Took me four evenings and I did not touch my phone once during any of them. When I finally switched the lights on and the music box started I actually sat there grinning like an idiot. It has been on my bookshelf for a month and people always ask about it.

How it Works

Little Worlds' Floating Castle is an 830 piece wooden model that you build from pre cut sheets into a full fantasy sky vessel. You press the numbered parts out, follow the illustrated manual step by step, and watch a floating city take shape over roughly 10 to 12 hours across a few evenings. Along the way you wire in 20 warm LED bulbs and a built in music box, so the finished model lights up and plays with a touch. When it is done it stands 13.6 inches tall on your shelf, with detachable houses you can lift off and look inside.

    FAQs

    How hard is it, really?

It is a five star difficulty build and it is meant to be. Every piece is numbered and the manual works picture by picture, so nothing is guesswork, but with 830 components you should plan on a few unhurried evenings rather than one afternoon.

Do I need glue or tools?

A screwdriver and assembly tool are included in the box. You will need to supply your own craft glue and a USB C cable, as these are not included, so it is worth having both ready before you start.

What age is this suitable for?

It is rated 15 and up. Most buyers are adults building it for themselves, and teenagers who enjoy detailed models handle it well with patience.

How do the lights and music work?

20 warm LED bulbs are wired in as you build, so the finished model glows from the inside rather than being lit from outside. The built in music box responds to touch, and the whole thing powers over USB C.

How big is it and will it stay together?

Finished it stands 345mm tall, roughly 13.6 inches, on a 281mm base, so it holds a shelf or desk properly. The glued wooden structure is solid, and the detachable houses lift off cleanly by design so you can look inside without anything coming loose.

What if I don't like Little Worlds' Floating Castle?

Try it for 30 days, and if you are not happy for any reason we will refund you in full under our 30 day money back guarantee. Your purchase is completely risk free.

Then You Switch The Lights On

20 warm bulbs sit inside the model, so the windows glow from within and the music box plays at a touch. That is the moment it stops being a puzzle and becomes the piece everyone notices on your shelf.

Twelve Hours Away From A Screen

830 pieces means several evenings where your hands are busy and your phone stays face down on the table. Most people describe the build itself as the best part, long before the lights ever come on.

    • Best Four Evenings In Months

No phone, no telly, just me and a pile of tiny wooden pieces.

    • The Lights Are The Whole Thing

Photos do not do it justice until it is dark and all twenty bulbs are on. It glows from inside the little windows and everyone who comes over stops to look at it.

    • Bigger Than I Pictured

Nearly fourteen inches tall and it properly holds a shelf. I was expecting something you would lose next to a stack of books.

    • Buy The Glue First

Only note is the glue and USB cable are not in the box, so get those sorted before you open it. Everything else was in there and clearly numbered.

    • Gave It To My Sister And Ordered My Own

She is the one who does jigsaws every winter so I thought she would like it. She sent me photos of every stage for a week and by day three I had ordered a second one for myself. The detail on the little houses is genuinely lovely.

    • Thought 830 Pieces Would Beat Me

I am not a model person and I assumed I would give up halfway. The manual is picture by picture and everything is numbered, so I never got properly stuck once.
